A Newark man has been ordered to pay almost £2,000 for fly-tipping in Bracebridge Heath and failing to comply with a request for information.

Oliver Pidhorodeckyj, of Pine Tree House, Sykes Lane, Balderston, Newark, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 15.

At an earlier hearing the 33-year-old had pleaded not guilty to depositing waste in a farm gateway on the B1178 at Bracebridge Heath on April 5 last year without a permit and guilty to the charge of failing to comply with a request for information.

However, after hearing evidence from witnesses in relation to the vehicle seen at the site and the distance between the back of the van and the dumped waste, Magistrates took less than five minutes to find Pidhorodeckyj, guilty of the charge.

He was fined £875 and ordered to pay compensation of £118.50 and costs of £975 (£1,968 in total).

Councillor Richard Wright, NKDC Executive Board Member for enforcement, said: “The message is simple and clear – we will not tolerate fly-tipping in our district.

“We will investigate every instance and take action against perpetrators where there is sufficient evidence to be able to do so.”

Anyone who witnesses fly-tipping or sees any waste left in the district can report it to NKDC online at www.n-kesteven.gov.uk or by calling 01529 414155.
