New South Kesteven District Council leader Matthew Lee has appointed his first cabinet, who will work alongside him until the next election in 2019.
Councillor Lee became the council’s new leader at the AGM on April 20, replacing fellow Conservative Bob Adams in the role.
The 37-year-old was elected to the district council in May 2015, and represents St. Mary’s Ward in Stamford.
In a speech to councillors, the new leader said: “We have an exciting period ahead and I look forward to working with everyone across the council, for the good of all residents in every ward we serve.
“Our future economic development is of paramount importance and it will define our success as a council.
“Of course we face significant challenges in delivering good services for our residents, from the reductions in funding from central government and leaving the EU to the general election that was announced on Tuesday.
“We also need to respond to long-term structural changes, most notably the changing face of our high streets in the internet era.
“These issues will not be solved overnight, and will require considerable thought and discussion for us to determine the best long-term course of action.
