In the second incident, three police officers attempted to arrest a 22-year-old Grimsby man on Saturday night and had blood splattered onto their faces.

The man, Joshua David Jackson of Hamilton Street, Grimsby, has been charged with three offences including assault of a police officer and making threats and using threatening behaviour.

He has been bailed to appear at court at a later date.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Our officers put themselves in harm’s way to help protect innocent people.

“Behaviour like this is never acceptable and we will deal firmly with anyone who assaults our police officers and PCSOs as they carry out their duties.”
