The streets of Lincoln were transformed into a Medieval battleground on Saturday, May 20, with thousands of visitors taking in reenactments, special talks and activities for all the family.

The day signalled 800 years exactly since the Battle of Lincoln Fair was waged on the streets of the city and castle.

To mark the anniversary, residents and visitors enjoyed a Medieval market, children’s book launch, procession and spectacular re-enactment of the 1217 battle on the grounds surrounding Lincoln Cathedral.

The day also signalled the launch of the Lincoln Knights’ Trail. See our special picture guide to the trail here.
