A Boston teen has been caught red-handed on CCTV vandalising planters in the town centre.

Detective work by the borough council’s anti-social behaviour team, aided by Boston’s CCTV system, helped identify the person responsible for the vandalism.

A review of footage captured by Boston Borough Council cameras showed a person pulling newly-set plants from a planter near the Ingram Memorial.

The council’s anti-social behaviour officer and CCTV operators then tracked the offender through town to gather identification evidence.

They then reviewed footage of a much earlier incident in which trees were destroyed at St John’s Park and spotted the same person, gaining evidence of her part in vandalism at this location also.

She was then positively identified with the help of partner agencies.

The 16-year-old will now be formally interviewed in the presence of her parents by the anti-social behaviour officer and suitable reparation will be agreed.
