North East Lincolnshire Council’s regeneration partnership with Engie has won Local Authority Team of the Year at the United Kingdom and Ireland’s most prestigious planning awards.

The Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry.

North East Lincolnshire Council has been working in partnership with Engie for almost seven years to provide planning services for across Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Immingham and the surrounding villages and countryside.

The Local Authority Team of the Year Award is judged on a range of criteria including their planning approaches and techniques to achieve high quality solutions.

Councillor Ray Oxby, leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is a great win for the partnership’s planning team.

“More importantly though, it shows North East Lincolnshire is making strides on the national stage.”

Marcus Asquith, partnership director for ENGIE, said: “This is a fantastic moment for the team. I am very happy for them and proud of their achievement.

“Since the Regeneration Partnership started in 2010 they have adapted their approach to a more ‘can-do’ and customer focused service which has resulted in a high performing team that has now been recognised nationally.

“With an ambitious local plan this is an important critical factor which will assist in its delivery.”
