A new pub which promises to bring ‘new and exciting’ beers is expected to open in Lincoln later this year.

BeerHeadZ has applied for permission to change the use of a current Humberts Estate Agents in Eastgate (understood to be relocating) into a small specialist pub, selling a variety of cask ales and beers.

Applications for an alcohol licence are being considered by City of Lincoln Council with hopes to open the pub before Christmas.

The company currently has BeerHeadZ pubs in Retford and Grantham.

Founder of BeerHeadZ, Phil Ayling, told The Lincolnite: “We’re trying to bring new and exciting beers to the city for people young and old.

“We’ve been looking to find a place in Lincoln to turn into a BeerHeadZ for the last two years and we’ve finally found one.

“We will be providing beers from around the country as well as supporting local breweries.”

The pub will also be selling traditional snacks and soft drinks but will primarily “just concentrate on providing excellent beers”, Phil added.

BeerHeadZ in Retford opened almost three years ago, before the Grantham branch, which recently won CAMRA’s Town Pub of the Year, opened 18 months later.

A BeerHeadZ in Nottingham is set to open in six weeks and plans have been finalised for a Melton Mowbray pub.

“Lincoln is a vibrant and buzzing city with many students and we believe we have found a gap in the market and hope we can become a great asset.”

The company will be leasing the building in the Eastgate area and have budgeted for a £10,000 refurbishment for the pub.

A number of new jobs will also be created with the opening.
