Member of Parliament for Lincoln Karen Lee has been appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Labour Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell.

Karen will now join Labour’s Shadow Treasury team.

The role of PPS is an unpaid position to act as ministers’ or shadow ministers’ contact with MPs. It is seen as a starting point for many MPs looking to hold ministerial office in the future.

Karen Lee said: “I am delighted to announce that I have been appointed as PPS to the Shadow Chancellor, John McDonnell.

“Working with the Shadow Treasury team, I aim to be a strong voice in supporting their fantastic work. The work that was done to produce Labour’s amazing manifesto is testament to the ability of Labour’s economic team.

“And as with anything that I do in Parliament I will also ensure that Lincoln is at the heart of this new role. Lincoln is a wonderful city with a brilliant past and an even brighter future.

“Economic generation within the city remains a key issue and I am looking forward to getting to work with our team to help places like Lincoln across the country.”
