Lincolnshire Police have arrested two men in their 20s after two sculptures from the Lincoln Knights’ Trail were severely damaged.

Officers rescued one knight from the water near to the Green Dragon pub in the early hours of the morning after they were called out to reports of vandalism.

Police received reports that the knights has been damaged at 3.20am on Friday, July 14.

A spokesperson said: “One knight was knocked over so officers picked it up and put back on its stand on High Bridge.

“We also managed to rescue a knight from the River Witham near the Green Dragon pub.

“Two men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, they are in custody.

“We are liaising with city council over this.”
