A man has been charged with escaping lawful custody after fleeing police in handcuffs and allegedly assaulting an officer in Boston. A man has been charged with escaping lawful custody after fleeing police in handcuffs and allegedly assaulting an officer in Boston.

Aurimus Butkys of Chaucer’s Way in Spalding has also been charged with document offences, Lincolnshire Police confirmed.

As reported previously, Butkys escaped from police custody while still wearing handcuffs in July. He was also accused of assaulting an officer.

The 25-year-old Lithuanian man had escaped while being taken to Boston Police Station on July 12. He was being detained on an extradition warrant in connection with an assault in Lithuania.

He was caught and re-arrested by officers in Kent on July 16.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Boston Magistrates’ Court on August 23.
