A touching tribute.

The wife of the man stabbed to death in broad daylight in Mablethorpe on Bank Holiday Monday has left a touching tribute to her husband at the scene of the incident.

Lincolnshire Police officers armed with tasers arrested a man in his 40s at the scene within minutes of the stabbing.

He remains custody at the time of writing.

The message attached to the flowers said: “To my husband and soul mate and the love of my life, for the last 10 years we have stuck by each other no matter what.

“I have to thank you for giving us our son. There are no words to describe how I feel about it.

“All I know is I love you and miss you always, Kirsty Rudd.”

Four bouquets of flowers were left outside the Myrtle Lodge in Mablethorpe.

Another message at the scene read: “Jamie, RIP mate, love Dave, Amy and your little mate Morden.”

Messages have been circling on social media in recent days, naming the man locally as Jamie Rudd.

However, this has not been confirmed by Lincolnshire Police, who are waiting to conduct a formal identification.

Police said that the incident was isolated and in no way related to terrorism.

Inspector for Mablethorpe Phil Baker said at the time of the stabbing: “I would like to reassure local residents that incidents of this nature are exceptionally rare.

“It is critical that anyone who saw what happened or has knowledge about what may have led to this happening gets in touch with us as soon as possible – your information could prove crucial to our investigation.”
