Council wants your views on plans for new crematorium near Gainsborough

A consultation is now open.

A public consultation event will be held later this month on plans for a new crematorium outside of Gainsborough.

West Lindsey District Council is seeking views of residents on proposals for a crematorium in the village of Lea.

The council has secured an option to purchase a site and drawn up concept designs in response to the lack of crematorium provision in the district.

Residents are being encouraged to attend the consultation event on September 19 between 3pm and 7pm at Lea Village Hall on Rectory Lane.

The consultation period is open until October 15.

Chairman of the council’s Prosperous Communities Committee, Councillor Sheila Bibb, said: “We are now working towards an application for planning permission and would like to share our plans with the local community in order to get valuable feedback on the proposal.

“All feedback received will be analysed and used to finalise the design.

“We would like as many people as possible to come along and meet representatives of the council and the design team to find out more at a special consultation event to be held later this month.”

Residents can submit feedback on the scheme online here.
