Dementia café welcoming Boston visitors and residents next month

The open day will be held next month.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Boston Dementia Café will hold a special open day next month to show off its work to the local community.

The charity will open its doors on November 15 to members of the public, as well as organisations such as care agencies, health centres, GP surgeries and residential care providers.

It is also a chance for potential volunteers to find out how they can help the charity support people with dementia in the local area.

The open day will be held at Len Medlock Centre on St Georges Road from 10am until 12pm.

Currently, there are 11,000 people with dementia in Lincolnshire, including nearly 1,000 in Boston.

Sharney O’Loughlin, Alzheimer’s Society Group Coordinator said: “Alzheimer’s Society’s Boston Dementia Cafe provides people with dementia and carers a platform to talk openly about living with dementia within a relaxed and informal environment.

“We want more people in the Boston area to see the valuable support we offer locally.

“It’s also a chance to find out more about dementia and how you can reduce your risk of developing the condition.”

The event is free with refreshments provided. For more information call Alzheimer’s Society on 01522 437069.
