Lincoln leave it late to grab win at Swindon Town

Swindon Town 0-1 Lincoln City match report.

Sean Raggett’s late header earned three important points for Lincoln City after they defeated Swindon Town 1-0 at the County Ground.

The win sees The Imps go up one place to 9th and only one point off the play-offs during an eventful night in Swindon.

Lincoln made three changes from the side that drew 0-0 to Cambridge United at the weekend, Raggett, Nathan Arnold and Sean Long all replaced Luke Waterfall, Ollie Palmer and Sam Habergham.

Swindon kept the ball well throughout the game, however Lincoln came close in the opening minutes when Arnold’s cross from Billy Knott’s short corner found the head of Raggett but his effort was headed off the line.

Keshi Anderson had a couple of good chances in the first half, however Alex Woodyard put in a great tackle to stop the Crystal Palace loanee from shooting and Josh Vickers saved another Anderson shot minutes before half-time.

Mid-way through the second half Arnold’s effort was tipped onto the post before Josh Ginnelly’s rebound was blocked by a Swindon player.

The deadlock was finally broken when substitute Jordan Maguire-Drew’s inch perfect corner found the head of Raggett who headed home past goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook.

Anderson almost grabbed a late equaliser for the hosts, however his left-footed effort went wide and Lincoln defended well to hold onto their lead.

The Imps will now travel to Cheltenham Town on Saturday (October 21) and will be looking to extend their five-game unbeaten run.
