‘I can’t wait!’ Gainsborough getting a Lidl bit excited for new store opening

The new store is due to open in a fortnight.

Residents in Gainsborough have spoken of their excitement ahead of the new Lidl store opening in the town in just two weeks.

The German discount supermarket chain will open a bigger store on Beaumont Street on Thursday, December 7, replacing the current store on Ropery Road.

Susan Statham, 54, told Lincolnshire Reporter: “I can’t wait!”

“I do love the Lidl bakery and me and my family go there quite a lot.

“The bread is fantastic and the meat is lovely.”

“We wanted a bigger Lidl as we have a Morrisons, but it’s only a small one and the Tesco sells a lot of their finest products, but there’s a lot of people on a low income in Gainsborough so it doesn’t really work.”

Shannon Maunders, 22, said: “I will be doing my Christmas shopping there.

“The building looks quite big and hopefully it’ll be really good.”
