‘I’m surprised nobody has been killed on this road’: Wrangle residents angry at drivers speeding on A52 through village

“There is a speed checker sign but the batteries keep going flat.”

Residents in Wrangle have urged drivers not to speed through their village after a fuel lorry crashed into a house on the A52.

The crash involving a van and car alongside the Jet lorry happened on Monday, November 13, at around 1pm.

Luckily, only minor injuries were reported, a Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said.

However, the dramatic scenes and seriousness of the crash have led to increased calls for motorists to curb their speed on the main road from Boston to Skegness.

David Rodger, 70, who lives on the A52, said: “It’s a 30mph speed limit but people go a lot quicker than that.

“Drivers overtake you on this road and I’m surprised that an accident hasn’t happened sooner.

“They need to make a crossing or something. There is a speed checker sign but the batteries keep going flat.”

A man, who was at the scene with his dog, was equally unimpressed by the number of motorists speeding through the village.

He told Lincolnshire Reporter: “I’m surprised nobody has been killed on this road.

“There needs to be a speed camera on this road as there’s a school up the road with parents walking their children.”
