Saturday is expected to be the busiest day of the market, therefore East Midlands Trains will be doubling its usual level of service by providing more than 25,000 seats.
Sarah Turner, East Midlands Trains General Manager, said: “As well as the huge increase in seats there will also be special arrangements at Lincoln and some other stations so we would ask customers to leave a bit of extra time for their journey so we can help everyone enjoy the occasion.”
Lydia Rusling, Head of Visit Lincoln, said: “We welcome these extra services to Lincoln for the Christmas Market on one of the biggest weekends of the year for many businesses in the city.”
Customers travelling to and from Lincoln are being advised to use the additional services and book tickets in advance to avoid queues at ticket machines and ticket offices on the day.
Group bookings and reservations will not be available on journeys to/from Lincoln on these days.
