‘They can’t cover the whole area’: Councillor slams police cuts after man’s death in Ingoldmells

A senior parish councillor has criticised the lack of police resources on the Lincolnshire coast after a man’s death in Ingoldmells.

Vice-chair of Ingoldmells Parish Council Bill Vincent said that “slack” police resources meant that officers could not cover the whole area.

A woman in her 20s has been arrested by Lincolnshire Police after officers were called to an address on Chapman Court just before 2.30am on the morning of Wednesday, December 6.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was found seriously injured.

He died a short time later in hospital.

A policeman is on guard at the scene and forensics were spotted entering the property when Lincolnshire Reporter visited later in the day.

Councillor Vincent said: “It’s very disturbing that it’s happened locally and a shame that police resources are slack and that they can’t cover the whole area.

“Because of all the cuts they don’t have the manpower to cover the area from Mablethorpe or Skegness, it’s half of the battle.”

Mark Williams, 48, lives jut around the corner from Chapman Court.

He said: “It’s a big shock. I’ve been here for four or five years and I’ve never heard anything like this before.

“It’s always very quiet around here, you get the odd noise, but never something like this.”

Lincolnshire Police have been invited to respond to Councillor Vincent’s concerns.
