Trees down across 33 Lincolnshire roads due to strong winds

Lincolnshire Police have received at least 33 reports of trees obstructing roads in the county this morning.

Reports came in to the force between 4.20am and 6am on Thursday, January 18. Strong winds battered the county overnight.

There have been no injuries reported at the time of writing.

As of 6am, incidents where trees had blocked or partially obstructed roads were:

  • 44 – Harmston
  • 45 – Gonerby
  • 46 – A152 Gosberton
  • 47 – B1192 – New York
  • 49 – Roman Bank, Spalding
  • 50 – A607 – Fulbeck
  • 52 – Cross O’Cliffe Hill, Bracebridge Heath
  • 53 – B1356 Spalding
  • 55 – Wainfleet St Mary
  • 60 – West Rd, Bourne
  • 61 – B1177 – Bourne
  • 62 – A52 Swineshead
  • 63 – A17 – Sutterton
  • 70 – A158 – Horncastle
  • 71 – Woolsthorpe
  • 76 – Quadring
  • 78 – Denton
  • 79 – Penny Hill, Holbeach
  • 80 – Morton, Bourne

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning until 9am, predicting very strong winds.

Forecasters warned that road, rail and ferry services mat be affected.

Around 2,000 homes in the south of the county are said to have been affected by power losses as result of the weather.
