Car driver dies after A158 double decker crash near Horncastle

The driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a car involved in a crash with a double decker bus on the A158 near Horncastle has died, Lincolnshire Police confirmed.

As reported previously, the crash involving a white Ford Focus and a Stagecoach bus happened just before 4pm on Monday, February 12 at Thunkers Hollow.

The driver of the bus was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Sadly the driver of the Fiesta was pronounced dead at the scene.

Some ten bus passengers also received minor injuries.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “Sadly, we can confirm that the driver of the car which was in collision with the bus was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The road was re-opened just after 9pm. We are still in the process of tracing the relatives of the person who died and will release further details as soon as we can.

“It is believed that there were ten people on the bus and seven were slightly injured.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Thunkers Hollow on the A158 near Horncastle just before 4pm this afternoon and either saw the collision or saw the bus or a white Ford Fiesta before the collision – please call 101 and quote incident 263 of today.”
