Horncastle drainage repairs likely to cause significant traffic delays tomorrow

Essential works.

A drain described as on the verge of collapsing will be repaired tomorrow on the A158 in Horncastle and will likely cause delays to drivers.

The work on the damaged drainage gully on the A158 Jubilee Way, Horncastle will start on Wednesday, February 21 at 9am and is set to be complete by 3pm.

To allow the work to take place safely, there will be temporary traffic lights in place which is likely to cause some disruption.

With the lights in pace, the highways team will also investigate and nearby drainage issue on the A153 Bull Ring.

If there is solution discovered at Bull Ring, the council say the temporary lights may remain in place so it can be fixed.

The gully on Jubilee Way will remain blocked off by cones for a few days afterwards to ensure it is strong enough to take the weight of traffic.

Councillor Richard Davies, Executive Member for Highways, said: “The gully on Jubilee Way is on the verge of collapsing, so we can’t leave it as it is. We’ll take this opportunity to look at what’s causing the flooding issues on the Bull Ring too.

“Despite our best efforts, there is likely to be significant effect on traffic, so please use alternative routes where possible. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
