Police break up second Lincoln house party gone wrong

Second house party gone rogue in a week.

Police officers broke up another house party in Lincoln after some 80 people gatecrashed a Birchwood home on Thursday night.

The incident took place in Harrier Court at 10pm with damage caused to the property and bottles thrown at police officers, police said. One teenager was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

Three young men were arrested on Wednesday night after mayhem broke out at another house party at St Margaret’s Garden off Hykeham Road. The 16-year-olds have since been released.

Chief Inspector for Lincoln Stewart Brinn said: “It is unbelievable that for the second night in a row we have had to get involved in a public disturbance like this.

“Teenagers are being put into a position where they are at risk of being arrested and criminalised. Officers facing a barrage of bottles and stones have no choice but to respond to disperse large groups who are causing extreme distress and fear to local residents and damage to property.

“This has a huge impact on our resources as at the same time we are trying respond to others that need our help. It is apparent that many parents do not know where their children are and often are not even present to ensure that a small party in their house doesn’t escalate into something which affects an entire street.

“More thought also needs to go into what is put on social media. We know that a post notifying people of a party can go viral and unwanted persons can and do attend with little regard to property or their overall behaviour. Things can quickly escalate into something that people cannot control themselves.”

Anyone with information about this disturbance should call 101 quoting incident 420 of February 15.
