Washingborough Road to close from Monday for Eastern Bypass works

Work last through February half term.

Washingborough Road will be completely closed to traffic from Monday due to work on the Lincoln Eastern Bypass.

BAM Nuttall is scheduled from next week to carry out ducting work to allow for the underground diversion of overhead power lines.

Works will take place from 6am on Monday, February 12 to 6pm on Friday, February 16, during which time, a full road closure will be in place.

The diversion route will be via B1190 Washingborough Road, B1188 Lincoln Road, Station Road, Branston Road, Sheepwash Lane, Pitts Road, B1190 Washingborough Road and vice versa.

HGVs will also be diverted via Nocton & Potterhanworth during the closure.

The 7.5km Lincoln Eastern Bypass project is part-funded by a £50m Central Government capital grant and aims to improve Lincoln’s infrastructure, encourage growth, minimise traffic congestion and enhance the inter-city environment.

Other upcoming and current closures and restrictions in place as part of the Lincoln Eastern Bypass project include:

  • Temporary 30mph speed limit on Greetwell Road
  • Temporary 200m path diversion on the Sustrans route along the River Witham
  • Closure of the Public Right of Way near Hawthorne Chase for Anglian Water sewer pipe diversions; however, the play park at Hawthorn Chase will remain open
