“I’m devastated”: Horse stabbed with electric fence post in Lincoln field

Who would do this?

A young horse was stabbed in the stomach with a huge metal post from an electric fence, leaving its owner shaken and desperate to find witnesses.

The incident is believed to have happened at around midday on Sunday, April 29 in a field off Washingborough Road.

Owner Lara Houlden, 22, from Lincoln said she found the three year old horse named Jolene with the fencing rod embedded in her stomach.

The rod was sticking out of her stomach when Lara visited her in her field off Washingborough Road.

She told The Lincolnite fencing had been broken nearby and significant force would have been used to bury the post deep into her abdomen.

Jolene was rushed to a vetinary hospital where she is currently being examined and monitored.

Lara said: “Anyone who knows me knows how much my horses mean to me. I’d go to the end of the earth and back. I am completely devastated.

Jolene is now being monitored in hospital.

“The vets want to keep her in for at least 24 hours. What came out was not just blood but also abdomen fluid so it’s not yet known if she has internal bleeding.

“She’s like my child. We are desperate for witnesses.”
