In the book by Hugh Lofting, Dr John Dolittle starts out as a human doctor, but a wise old parrot teaches him how to talk to animals before he comes a celebrated vet.

Illyria will perform the famous story in their own style, with wit and humour to keep the audience entertained.

Events officer at Lincoln Castle Stephanie Beecher said: “We’re once again really excited to welcome back Illyria to Lincoln Castle. Their productions always prove really popular and The Adventures of Dr Dolittle is no exception!

“The tale of Dr Dolittle is a funny and much loved one so this is something the whole family will enjoy! Bring your picnics, chairs and friends and enjoy a wonderful evening of first class outdoor theatre.
