A 19-year-old man has been arrested and subsequently released under investigation after a stolen road sweeper was driven around Cleethorpes and left smashed up on its side.
Police received reports that the vehicle had been taken from Cleethorpes High Street at around 6:30am on Sunday and it was later found overturned on Kingsway, just outside Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “A 19 year-old man arrested in connection with the theft of a road sweeper on 20 May has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
Local residents reacted with disbelief after a video emerged on social media appearing to show the culprit bragging about the joyride on Snapchat.
“What a bloody idiot! Could’ve killed someone.” Wrote Jodie Marsh on Facebook.
“Don’t see what the problem is, at least he’s trying his best to keep the streets of Cleethorpes clean.” joked Jamie Coulson.
