New digital speed camera in North Hykeham

Watch your speed.

The speed camera on Lincoln Road in North Hykeham is the latest to be replaced with a modern digital device.

The camera was installed alongside the old model on Wednesday and will be tested in tandem for the next few weeks.

The new digital cameras do not require maintenance visits every few days to load 35mm wet film.

The system sends data in real-time to a control centre where it is checked and compiled before being forwarded to police, who produce the paperwork and send fines to vehicle owners.

Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership also installed new average digital speed cameras in recent weeks on the A17 at Byards Leap, Cranwell and the North Raucby junction, and at Hubberts Bridge in Boston.
