Visit Woodhall Spa’s County Show this weekend

This year’s event has a sheep theme

A sheep spectacular is one of the main attractions at the Woodhall Spa Country Show this weekend.

The sheep-themed 12th edition of the event, since the old show was resurrected in a different format, will take place at Woodhall Spa Showground on Green Lane on Sunday, May 20 from 9.30am-5pm.

Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £3 for children five to 16, with any below that age free.

The tickets are available to buy on the entrance gate and parking is free.

There is a full programme for the day with the sheep show taking centre stage.

The Sheep Show is a live educational and entertainment stage show presented in humorous New Zealand style using nine different breeds of the animal.

Each sheep has a story to tell and will be welcomed to the stage by its own theme tune, like ‘Lenny the Lincoln Long wool’ who enters to Bob Marley, and don’t miss the dancing sheep.

In the main ring there will be parades for vehicles, tractors and a demonstration of scurry driving, which is ponies galloping round obstacles with small carts.

Livestock judging will be going on until 3.30pm when the champion animal of each species arrives in the main ring for the ‘Best Live Exhibit in Show’ class.

There’s lots of food and drink to enjoy at the show.

A range of food will also be available to purchase on the day.

There will also be activities like throwing a pot wheel and a bouncy castle, as well as an entertainment trailer and craft tent.

A one way system will be operated on the day on Green Lane and Mill Lane, with alternative routes via Witham Road and Stixwould Road.

Show chairman John Michael said: “The committee has worked hard to create a full program for the day with lots to see and do so there is something for every one at ‘Woodhall Spa Country Show.’ It’s a great day out for all the family.”
