An outage with Visa’s card payment network is causing chaos for businesses across Lincolnshire.
Paymentsense, who facilitate card payments, have reported that companies using their service are currently struggling to take Visa card payments.
People across Lincolnshire have reported crashed networks in supermarkets including Sainsburys in Lincoln and the North Hykeham Asda.
In a statement on Twitter Paymentsense posted Visa’s outage announcement, which read: “There is currently a disruption of service in taking payments from Visa. It is affecting all payment providers across the UK and Ireland.
“We are in touch with Visa to help provide a fix to this and we’ll issue an update via our social channels and email as soon as we have one.
“We are currently experiencing a very high volume of calls coming into our Customer Service teams and would ask for your patience in regards to this issue. We would ask that you only call in if urgently required. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.”
We are aware of an industry wide issue effecting Visa payments which is under investigation. ATM and Mastercard transactions are not impacted. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Customers may be seeing intermittent transaction declines due to an issue Visa is currently experiencing in Europe with all acquirers. We will provide an update as soon as we have one. We are experiencing higher than normal call volumes. We appreciate your patience.
