Imps travel to Port Vale in Carabao Cup

Lincolnshire sides Grimsby and Scunthorpe were also in the draw

Lincoln City will travel to face fellow League Two side Port Vale in the first round (northern section) of the 2018/19 Carabao Cup.

The tie will be played at Vale Park during the week commencing August 13, with final details of the fixture date to be announced in due course.

Former Imp Billy Knott scored the League Two side’s only goal of the game as Danny Cowley’s men lost 2-1 at Rotherham in last season’s competition.

Lincoln will be hoping they can emulate the fantastic 2016/17 cup run in England’s other major cup competition when they became the first non-league side in over 100 years to reach the quarter-final of the FA Cup.

The Carabao Cup first round draw took place in Vietnam on Friday, June 15.

Head-to-head

Both sides won one each in the two League Two meetings last season.

Lincoln lost 1-0 at Vale Park in April 2018, but the meeting earlier in the season at Sincil Bank went in the Imps favour.

Matt Green, Michael Bostwick and captain Luke Waterfall scored the goals for Lincoln in the 3-1 home win on November 25 2017.

Other Lincolnshire sides in the draw:

Scunthorpe United v Doncaster Rovers

Grimsby Town v Rochdale
