Woman hit by lorry in Grantham

The High Street in Grantham is closed

A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a lorry in Grantham.

The woman was taken to Queens Medical Centre for treatment via land ambulance.

The incident, which happened just before midday on Monday, June 11, on Grantham High Street, is causing serious disruption in the town and police are advising people to avoid the area.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed as of 1.24pm a section of the High Street remains closed with a closure on the Brook Street Junction.

A spokesperson for EMAS said: “We received a call at 11:52 to attend an incident on High Street, Grantham.

“The caller reported a road traffic collision involving a patient and a lorry.

“We sent a double crewed ambulance to the scene and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.”

The air ambulance hasn’t landed yet, but has been requested by EMAS’ ambulance crew as they would like assistance from the doctor on board.
