Here’s why people are painting Lincoln media boxes

Bursts of colour on Sincil Bank street corners

If you’ve been down Sincil Bank this week you may have noticed little bursts of colour on several street corners.

Once dull and green, Virgin Media TV and broadband boxes have been brought to life on  Sibthorpe Street, Charles Street and Portland Street.

It’s all part of the LEAP Housing and Support charity community art project by local people.

Designs were given to them by people in the Lincoln and Sincil Bank community and will form a new art trail that will allow children and visitors to explore south Lincoln.

Members of the You’re Probably from Lincoln If… Facebook group responded with words of encouragement and enthusiasm.

Molly Wallhead said: “Fab. So uplifting.”

Claire Smith Rhodes added: “I really like that idea and it looks great. Well done to everyone.”

“Exactly what we need. A bit of colour.” wrote Andrew Washington.

The group behind the project are encouraging others to get involved, and are asking volunteers to email them for more information.
