Man charged with Scunthorpe murder

And a 47-year-old man is still in custody

A 24-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 51-year-old Raymond Ward after a body was found in a disused building in Scunthorpe earlier this week.

Dion Levi Hendry of no fixed address is due to appear at Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates Court on the morning of Monday, July 16.

As previously reported, police had said the incident which happened on Cliff Gardens in Scunthorpe was believed to be a targeted attack.

Police were still at the scene on Tuesday evening.

A post-mortem of Raymond Ward found that the victim suffered a physical attack and was fatally injured.

Earlier in the week four men aged 47, 37, 24 and 36 were arrested in relation to the incident.

The 36-year-old has been released on bail, while the 37-year-old has been released unconditionally with no further action.

Officers have been given more time to question the 47-year-old man who is still in custody.
