Drone helps find Lincolnshire rough sleepers

Eyes in the sky to help find rough sleepers

A homeless outreach team are using drones to find rough sleepers on the Lincolnshire coast and in rural areas.

In one of the first schemes of its kind, the P3 Lincolnshire Street Outreach Team have invested in a new drone to help find homeless people.

The drone is sent into the sky, while the team assesses the live footage and directs their colleagues towards someone sleeping rough.

Andy Lee, service coordinator at P3, explained how the technology works.

He said: “The drone will help us to search vast areas within a relatively short period of time. We will be able to locate people much faster and assess the safest route to reach them.

“Time is always the key factor when we are trying to find someone, so this drone will prove to be an invaluable asset.”
