Imps skipper leaves for Shrewsbury

He made over 130 appearances for the Imps

Lincoln City captain Luke Waterfall has left the club to join Shrewsbury after just one game of the new League Two season.

An undisclosed fee was offered by the League One side, who Lincoln beat at Wembley in the 2017/18 Checkatrade Trophy Final, which triggered a release clause in the defender’s contract.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Imps from Wrexham in 2015, made over 130 appearances during his three-year stay at Sincil Bank, including last weekend’s 1-0 win at Northampton on the opening day of the new League Two season.

Lincoln will be looking to continue their winning start to the season when they host Swindon on Saturday (August 11).
