Fundraising page set up for family of “well-liked” Lincoln man

Over £2,000 has already been raised

A collection page has been set up to raise money for the funeral and headstone of Jonathan Christopher, whose body was found by police last week.

As previously reported, the body of Jonathan, who went missing from his Lincoln home last week, was found in North Yorkshire on the night of Tuesday, September 4.

North Yorkshire Police have since confirmed that “next of kin have formally identified Mr Christopher”.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police enquiries are ongoing to confirm the circumstances of the death. This will form a report for the coroner.

“An inquest will open in due course but no date has been set at this stage.”

People posted tributes in response to the story on The Lincolnite and social media about Jonathan, with his great sense of humour being highlighted by a number of the commenters.

Frances Hicks has set up a Just Giving page to try and raise £3,000 to help Jon’s friends and family “give him a send off befitting the character he was”.

The page for Jonathan, who used to work at Caffe Nero in Waterstones in Lincoln, has raised £2,285 in five days at the time of writing.

A former colleague of Jonathan’s called Lucy told The Lincolnite: “The Just Giving page was set up as John deserves a proper send off.

“He was a well-liked guy, he got on with everyone and would love nothing more than putting the world to rights.

“He was a massive Liverpool supporter and could often be heard moaning and celebrating about his favourite team whilst he was serving coffee at Caffe Nero.

“He will be massively missed by everyone that knew him and world is a little darker without him in it.”
