Man kept in custody over firearm and burglary offences

He will appear at crown court next month

A 46-year-old man has been remanded in custody to appear at Grimsby Crown Court next month charged with a number of offences including possession of a firearm with intent to cause unlawful violence.

Shaun Hutson of no fixed address appeared at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court during the morning of Friday, September 28 after his arrest in connection with a series of robberies in Grimsby.

He appeared in court to face charges relating to:

  • Attempted robbery at McColls Convenience Store, Cleethorpes on September 11
  • Attempted robbery at the Premier Extra store, Wellington Street, Grimsby on September 20
  • Robbery at Farmfoods, Garibaldi Street, Grimsby on September 22

The charges were two counts of possession of an imitation firearm, possession of a firearm with intent to cause unlawful violence, two counts of attempted robbery, one robbery and possession of an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed.

After the hearing he was remanded in custody and will appear at Grimsby Crown Court on October 29.
