Prepare for battle at Skegness Viking Festival

Wander through a Viking encampment

The largest Viking battle the Lincolnshire shores has seen for years will take place as the Viking Festival heads to Skegness next month.

The Visit Lincs Coast event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7, with visitors able to wander through a living Viking encampment at The Village Church Farm in Skegness between 11am-3pm on both days.

People will be able to smell the Vikings cooking, watch them make arrows and sharpen their swords and there is even a chance to take part.

Skirmishes and ‘vicious battles’ will also take place during the weekend where over 50 warrior Vikings from Wuffa and The Dragon Shields meet on the Lincolnshire coast for the first time in 1000 years.

The largest Viking battle will take place from 5pm on Skegness Central Beach on the Saturday night and there will also be a fire juggling show and a firework display.

The event is free, but donations to The Village are welcome.
