A popular uphill pub in Lincoln frustrated customers after closing suddenly recently, but it is now set to reopen under new ownership on Friday.
It initially appeared like The Stags Head on Newport in Lincoln could be closed for good as its Google listing showed as ‘permanently closed’ and its Facebook page disappeared.
When trying to make bookings via the website it keeps saying “Oh no! There are no available slots. How about choosing another day?”
However, a note has now appeared in the pub’s window stating that it will be closed until Friday, September 21 due to a change of ownership.

The note says: “We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you back. While there will be staff on site working, in the first instance please contact us by phone or email with any enquiries until we re-open.”
The Lincolnite tried to contact the venue via phone and email, but there was no response by the time of publication.
Frustrated customers
A frustrated customer contacted The Lincolnite after trying to go for dinner at the weekend and finding the premises closed.
The customer, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “On sunday, we went to go and eat dinner there but it was closed.
“Now if you Google it, it says “permanently closed” but nothing about why. My friend went the week before and said it was great and full of customers…seems a bit odd??
“We didn’t get out the car because all the lights were off, there were no cars in the car park and no doors were open.”
Just last week an annoyed customer took to Trip Advisor to vent their frustration saying they found the bar empty for a second Friday in a row at 8pm.
The reviewer complained that they ordered a dry white win and the barmaid added ice due to the glass being warm.
The review added the stocks behind the bar were “depleted” and there was “no atmosphere”.
