Carholme Road lane closed for student digs build

Expect long delays starting next month

Expect long delays in the city centre as one lane of the Carholme Road and Newland junction is closed for several months.

The closure starts on October 21 and it is to enable safe site access for constrcution of new student accommodation at Viking House.

The lane will temporarily reopon on November 21 to allow for additional Christmas traffic, but it will close again on January 7 until the works are completed.

Viking House is being developed by Jackson & Jackson properties and will renovate a group of commercial buildings for student housing.

The development is currently in phase two after receiving planning permission from the City of Lincoln Council earlier this year.

It is being delivered by local construction company LGG Projects.

Paul Jakuc, LGG Projects, said: “The road closures are necessary safety measures that need to be put in place until construction is complete.

“Once finished the development will significantly improve the entrance to the city and meet the accommodation demands for the increasing numbers of students coming to Lincoln.

“We are working as quickly as possible to ensure minimal delays and are working closely with the highways authority to ensure alternate routes are clearly signed.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause to the public and we thank them for their patience during this time.”
