Lincoln’s Glory Hole is blocked… here’s why

It won’t be shut for long

A well-used passage at the Lincoln Glory Hole is currently closed due to essential maintenance.

Western Power Distribution has closed the passage to work on what they say is a fault in an underground cable that occurred over the weekend.

The passage leads to the Glory Hole underneath High Bridge in the city centre, which is currently the oldest bridge in the UK that still supports a building, and was named by boaters who sailed under the bridge to the Brayford.

A spokesperson for Western Power has said that the passage will be re-opened either later on today or tomorrow.
