Man dies after suspected drink driving hit and run

Police have named the victim

A 37-year-old local man has died after a serious hit and run collision in Boston.

David Scott was walking along the pavement on Sleaford Road, Boston when he was struck with a Black Range Rover Sport at around 9:14pm on Thursday, October 19.

The pedestrian was taken to Boston Pilgrim Hospital and then transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he died of his injuries.

A 32-year old man was arrested in connection with the incident, but has now been released under investigation.

He did not stop at the scene of the collision, but was traced a short time later and arrested for providing a positive breath test and leaving the scene of a collision.

Detective Sergeant Alison Bowley, lead investigator on the case, said: “The take of investigating this collision, which has led to the extremely sad death of David, included speaking to as many people who witnessed the collision.

Lincolnshire Police are looking to speak to the drivers of two vehicles that were travelling in the area around the time of the collision.

Officers have issued an appeal to find the following potential witnesses:

  • The driver of small white vehicle with black roof which was travelling behind the land rover before collision, and possibly followed it over Sluice Bridge.
  • The driver of a white vehicle travelling westbound on Sleaford Road. The black Land Rover is believed to have nearly collided with this vehicle.

The drivers are believed to have information that will help the police with their enquiries.
