Man re-arrested over more seafront incidents

Trial dates have been set

A 46-year-old man previously charged over alleged assaults was re-arrested after a number of complaints against him over the last few days. He will now get help from support agencies.

As previously reported, Neil Stembridge of Peaks Lane in Grimsby was arrested shortly before 12pm on Tuesday, October 2 after an alleged assault on Cleethorpes seafront and he was taken into custody for questioning.

He was later charged with two separate accounts of assault in Cleethorpes on September 27 and October 2 and appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court on October 3.

Mr Stembridge was re-arrested on October 5 and a spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “A 46-year-old man has been arrested following a number of complaints against him over the past few days on Cleethorpes seafront.

“He has been released under investigation and we can confirm he is now getting the appropriate help from support agencies.”

The woman’s injuries are not believed to be serious and at the time of the arrest Humberside Police said: “We are aware that on local social media there has been speculation about other incidents recently and we would ask that anyone who has suffered incidents of anti-social behaviour or harassment recently in the Cleethorpes area please report their incidents to us so that we can investigate them fully.

“If people do not report their concerns we cannot act on these incidents.”
