Man charged after alleged seafront assault

He is due to appear in court

A 46-year-old man has been charged after his arrest in connection with an alleged assault of a woman on Cleethorpes seafront this week.

As previously reported, he was arrested shortly before 12pm on Tuesday, October 2 and taken into custody for questioning.

Neil Stembridge of Peaks Lane in Grimsby has now been charged with two separate counts of assault in Cleethorpes on September 27 and October 2.

He is due to appear at Grimsby Magistrates Court on Wednesday, October 3.

The woman’s injuries are not believed to be serious and at the time of the arrest Humberside Police said: “We are aware that on local social media there has been speculation about other incidents recently and we would ask that anyone who has suffered incidents of anti-social behaviour or harassment recently in the Cleethorpes area please report their incidents to us so that we can investigate them fully.

“If people do not report their concerns we cannot act on these incidents.”
