Man released after armed police operation

A suspected firearm was also recovered

A 39-year-old man, who was arrested after armed police closed a number of Lincoln roads during a county lines operation, has been released under investigation.

As previously reported, a suspected firearm was recovered and the man was arrested on suspicion of theft after armed police rushed to the Monks Road area of the city during the afternoon of Wednesday, October 17.

Armed police were at the scene on Wednesday.

It was due to an incident which police said was part of county lines operations – crimes relating to drugs and child exploitation.

However, police have since stressed that the offence the man was arrested on suspicion of is not connected to Wednesday’s operation.

St Rumbold’s Street at the junction of Friars Lane and Montague Street, as well as Rosemary Lane, were closed during the operation until shortly before 6pm.
