Record year for Lincolnshire pumpkin grower

A bumper pumkin harvest

A pumpkin farm in Spalding, Lincolnshire is on track for a record harvest this autumn after securing a deal to supply over 359,000 pumpkins to Aldi stores across the UK and Ireland.

Lincolnshire Field Products (LFP) has increased its pumpkin sales by 300% this year and will be supply 350 tonnes of pumpkins to stores across the British Isles.

Since securing a contract with Aldi four years ago, the farm has seen its total pumpkin volume increase by 2,500%.

Ben Harris, commercial account manager for Aldi at Lincolnshire Field Products, said: “This year we’ve grown an additional 100 acres of pumpkin crop to service our new contract to supply more Aldi stores.

“We’ve been producing pumpkins for Aldi for four years now and have seen demand increase during this.

“This year’s harvest will be our largest one yet so more customers can enjoy pumpkins this Halloween.”

Aldi is currently the UK’s fastest growing supermarket and has recently been named the UK’s best performing supermarket for compliance with the Groceries Supply Code of Practice, which the company say highlights their dedication to treating their suppliers with fairness and integrity.
