Leading bedding brand closes in Boston

Fogarty has been operating in Boston for over 100 years

Unions say over 200 people have lost their jobs at a leading bedding brand in Boston which closed earlier today.

Fogarty, which made pillows, duvets and bedding had been operating in the Lincolnshire town for more than 100 years.

Staff at the store, located on Fishtoft Road in Boston, have been reportedly told that the company is insolvent and been handed redundancy notices according to GMB Union.

Staff were told to go home on Friday because of a lack of orders.

David Shamma from the GMB Union told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: “One of the company directors announced the company could no longer trade due to financial difficulties and that it was now in the hands of the insolvency practitioners. On that basis everyone was redundant with immediate effect.”
