Train strikes to affect Lincolnshire this weekend

Lincoln, Gainsborough, Cleethorpes and Barton-on-Humber are affected

Train strikes will take place this weekend, which will impact on services in the county.

As previously reported, the Lincoln-Sheffield Northern Rail train service was affected in August and September, including with a replacement bus timetable.

A replacement bus timetable will again be in force for the service between Sheffield to Gainsborough to Lincoln/Cleethorpes on the seventh Saturday of RMT strike action on October 6.

This is the latest phase of strike action in the Northern Rail guards’ safety dispute by the National Union of Rail Maritime and Transport Workers.

Northern Rail said it will operate a reduced timetable with very few trains running before 9am and after 6pm and they expect to run around 30% of services, so all customers are advised to plan journeys carefully.

The rail operator also stated that on Sunday there will be planned cancellations on a small minority of routes, primarily in the north west.

Further strikes are also planned for Saturdays October 13 and 20.
