Burglars caught on camera stealing tools from van

Police are unsure how they managed to get into the van

A pair of thieves have been caught on camera breaking into a van to steal tools, but police aren’t sure how they did it.

The van was sat on the drive of a property on Ropery Road, Gainsborough when it was targeted in the early hours of Monday, November 26.

Security camera footage shows how the thieves walked up to the car and quickly unlocked it with what is believed to be an electronic device.

The owners say a portable welder, a four drawer tool box, an electric grinder, a socket set and a phone charger are now missing.

They managed to get in without breaking any windows or doors.

Helen Henderson told Lincolnshire Reporter: “Looking at the video, I think they must have used some kind of electronic device.

“It is very frustrating because it keeps happening. I think that they have taken around £500 to £600 in equipment from the van.

“We have already been robbed twice before this. We used to park on the street but we built an area to park at the front of the house so it would be safer.”

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “At 8.18am on November 26 we received a report that tools have been stolen from a Ford transit van in Ropery Road, Gainsborough.

“It is unclear how entry was gained.”

Anyone with any information about the incident is being urged to call 101, quoting incident number 67 of November 26.
