County council investigates Carholme Road flooding

The county council is trying to determine the cause

Lincolnshire County Council is carrying out investigations into flooding on Carholme Road.

Huge puddles have formed in the street since works to install a connection to the main sewer outside the Winning Post petrol station in October, though it has not yet been confirmed if the flooding is linked.

Lincolnshire County Council said it is aware of the issue and once the cause is determined steps will be taken to avoid it happening again.

Local resident John Houtby told The Lincolnite: “We have a big problem on Carholme Road at the top of Derwent Street.

“The Co-op dug up Carholme Road three weeks ago to connect their new car wash to the drain in the middle of the rain. Since then there has been what can only be described as a lake out across the road.

“Pedestrians walking down get soaked when vehicles pass. All night long all you can hear is the splashing of water as vehicles pass through it.

“I have been in touch with the county council and all you get is ‘we know’. It’s three weeks now and it’s a disgrace.”

In response the local highways manager at Lincolnshire County Council said: “We’re aware of the flooding that has affected Carholme Road and investigations into the cause are ongoing.

“Once we’ve been able to identify what’s behind it, we’ll be able to decide to what steps need to be taken to prevent it happening in future.”
